A Memory

Dad was in the Air Force, and he would go TDY (Temporary Duty Yonder) at least twice a year for a week or two at a time. Mom would take this opportunity to relax with dinner a bit. We’d have things that Dad would eat but didn’t prefer like tuna noodle casserole, tomato soup with popcorn, and other things.
One time when I was about 15 we decided to go get fast food, but not just any fast food. We were specific: burgers from Burger King, fries from McDonald’s, and blizzards from Dairy Queen. Yes, we went to 3 places to pick up our dinner. It was different and fun. We laughed about the silliness of it and enjoyed every minute.
Since I’m sharing this with you, it’s obviously a favorite memory that brings a smile. 🙂

  1. I love this memory and can totally relate. Since Chris has been away, I have made chicken nuggets, corn dogs, pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc. Its fun having “kid” food every once in a while.
